Serene Silhouettes Sympathy

My heart is reaching out to you,
For what you’re going through;
I’m thinking of you frequently
And praying for you, too.

If there’s something I can do,
Anything at all,
Think of me thinking of you,
And don’t hesitate to call.

Sympathy blossoms

Just a simple sympathy card.

They are never easy. The circumstance is never good. I usually have to break out the "how to say it book" for any sentiments for the inside. I would much rather bake a casserole or do their laundry/clean their house instead of sending flowers.

The recipient of this card's husband donated his organs. 42 organs were donated. That to me is incredible.  That is giving life!  That is among many of the reasons I am an organ donor.

In my thoughts

I love finding new ways to use up scraps when I am cleaning up my craft cave.

I used some flowers & leaves for this sympathy card. The DSP was perfect size for the middle of the card & I just had to add a sentiment.

Here is the latest addition to the family... my daughter recently got a puppy. It is really her puppy (she paid for it after much research), and I am thankful since I am looking forward to doing less since my children are teens now.
Puppy is a Yorkshire terrier, now 9 weeks old, her name is Haven, since my daughter would like to attend Lock Haven University. Haven is alittle sassy, so catching her like this is few & far between.

with Sympathy

Two families have lost love ones this week. My heart is heavy for those families & the memories of the loved ones lost. I cannot find the words for either card to be mailed out and I have cried each day & held my loved ones extra tight.

Slate grey with Bermuda Bay, Pool Party & Cabana are the colors I put together for this card.  Clean & simple all the way. Pearls to accent the flowers.

Pear sauce making day

Over the weekend, a sister of mine, my daughter and I made Pear sauce (like apple just pear) - since its an item we cannot seem to live without - we do this almost every October.

We usually only do one type of pear but since it was up for discussion on which pear makes the best sauce, we did two different  types and we voted... we aren't really sure which we like better!

Its an all day process to make the sauce, and can it, but its so worth it in the end. We had Chinese for lunch, the weather was beautiful and later on, when my daughter tired of the making, she baked some cookies for us! LOL...

I really needed to use some retired paper in my stash. I have been hoarding long enough!  So though I used the same paper and designed side, I made two different cards... they are alittle busier for me- but I like them.

Bloggers Challenge - Sympathy

At Bloggers Challenge, its "to die for" and boy did I use the dies on this card today! I have the Tasteful Trim (scallop), Butterflies and the Petal Cone (glimmer). I also used the Stripes embosslit for the Big Shot as well.  I added the rhinestones for some extra bling and quick sentiment - then wah laa...  card completed!

I loved the color challenge from Just Add Ink, so elegant!

I tried pictures numerous ways

Thinking of you

Yesterday was a day spent with a heavy heart. First, a friend of mine's grandmother was laid to rest and shortly after the funeral we learned that 1SGs bestmans mother passed away. Though both these women have lived long lives and their love will continue beyond yesterday, its always heartbreaking.

We were recently cleaning up some magazines that the bestman always sends 1SG and his ma had written tiny little notes on the articles she thought we would enjoy most... brings a smile to my face.  We will embark on the journey to Michigan to lay his ma to rest and be there for 1SGs bestman and lifelong best friend.

Great use of retired ribbon roses, that were dyed Indigo, and adding some pearls seems to finish this off nicely.I could have added a smidge more indigo but the Naturals white seemed more fitting.

to heal your heart

Oh its been a rough couple of days... besides the countdown to the departure of my son, and the end of school, a friend of mine has passed away.

I haven't spent a lot of time in the craft cave but I did put this together quickly in my head it was a little different, but overall I am pleased.

I think its more masculine (YEAH!!) for a sympathy card, and that tickles me pink!  Now its writing the words inside that I have to take a moment to complete.. always the hardest.

Duos

I finally made some time for ME in the craft cave... WAHOOOO!!!
... unfortunately, I had to make a few sympathy cards. I grabbed the colors from Dynamic Duos and went to work!

Since its been a while, I needed a warm up - you can see it at the bottom of the post!

The Summer Silhouettes really makes a great sympathy card without any trouble. I used it with Pool Party and Soft Suede, since they were the Duo colors.

Here is the inside of the card. Which I reflects almost a duplicate of the front. I very much like this!

Last, here was my warm up card... I used the By the Seashore stamp set, with the retired FYI, and put this together too.  This card actually is going to a friend of a close friend whose going through some rough times in her life! I just want to send her a HUG!!

Silky sympathy

Soft, silky sympathy ... this is what I wanted... this is what I achieved.
I took no longer then 20 minutes to get this together.
Maybe a clean room helped with this, and my sketch book {{alittle}}.

I was going to show you my FAIL of a advent calander, {{as the teens say}} but that might be too embarrassing. Soon I hope to spit out a few Christmas ideas! I have some things in the "works"!

Its WORLD AIDS DAY....prayers to all those effected by the disease, past and present!

CHEERY Blossoms

Its been quite a week! I know its only Wednesday! ... Lets just say COME ON WEEKEND!!!

Fortunately, these are not for family, but for colleagues at work the had some deaths in their families.  Its nice to get off the holiday bandwagon, and get into another occasion card. Keeps me fresh!

I wanted cheery... so when I remembered I had this DSP, I just cut some up and made it simple.  I added some little flowers and a sprig of greens from the two step bird punch. Then I added tiny little pearls to the centers.

Its a pretty card. I think I achieved CHEERY!

Just alittle blue...

When you receive a call from a coworker stating that her mother passed away  - its not the way anyone wants to start their week.  I cannot imagine it myself! I mean her mother was her best friend, and the close bond they had  ... whew.. I cannot even put words down.. but I stamp instead...

I used the En Francais background stamp, in Not Quite Navy, layering it on Baja Breeze - different huh?  Its not really showing up on the photo.. sorry

Using the Elements of Style for was my main goal - and I do love the turn out.  I added the pearls for some softness, as well as stamping the sentiment from Petite Pairs on Vellum. I then adhered the vellum on the Baja Breeze cardstock, before I punched it with the Oval punch. The Baja Breeze seam binder was a great addition too!

With Sympathy....

Its never easy saying good bye to those that you love - or those people that come into your life and just fill you with happiness... whethers its illness or accident, saying good bye is difficult. A family friend was killed on Thursday evening, and though we didn't see him all that often, the memories we have are unforgetable!

I knew I needed to get those butterflies back out. I also thought I needed some help with colors. I used the sketch challenge from Stamp-A-Holics which was great and provided me with getting a card out fast and easy.

Using the Just Add Ink Inspiration photo- gave me great colors to work with as well... and boy I did drift off alittle daydreaming of being there on the balcony with some wine and looking out into the landscape! ... wow!

I am not sure if this will be the card the widow gets, however I know that its soft enough to say all the things that it needs to say.  Though, I was reminded that she loved PURPLE... so there still is time for a card remake!

Thanks for Caring x2

It is without a doubt the most difficult card I make... therefore I stick to simple, easy, with just a tad of a flare. When I do make them, I cannot ever seem to make them in a bundle, so they are waiting for me when I need them, I seem to make them on an as needed basis.

I chose the colors Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede & very Vanilla because I thought it was elegant. And its not so much gender specific.  Using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder on the Baja Breeze gave the card depth and personality.  .. or at least in my opinion.

I am actually using Grey as the card stock here, met with the Baja Breeze.  This is definately more masculine in my world, which is fine, as its going to this family, who lost 7 of their children in a house fire in Perry County, Pennsylvania last week. I grew up in the same county, and though I have been gone from there for a while, the quiet still mountainess air still makes me say "I am home", when I do return. Its a tragedy even if you didn't know the family. Its a farming community, and they are close. So without a second thought, I have gathered some cards, clothing & donations for the family, who are putting 7 of their children to rest today.  May god bless them.

Ingredients:
Stamps: Thanks for caring
CS: Baja Breeze, Soft Suede,Crumb cake, Very Vanilla, Grey
Ink: Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Grey
Ribbon- Crumb Cake

Eternal Candle

I learned that on January 3 a dear friend/co worker lost his battle with cancer. He was diagnosed in March, and knew it was going to be the fast track. He dedicated his last few months with taking part in Cancer Research Relay for Life, spending time with his two beautiful daughters, celebrating his 45 birthday, his 25 wedding anniversary & lastly getting thru the holidays. Its been the hardest knowing that his wicked sense of humor was what got him thru the tough days and will be missed greatly!

Here is to you Mr. Brian Blackburn, may your family & friends have shared in the best moments of your and will stay with them forever!

I used the method that Sharon Field showed us here .
I changed mine up alittle - but still love how it turned out.

Thank you and have a great day!

Perfect Pretty in Pink

It was with such a heavy heart that I put this card together. A co-worker's granddaughter passed away within days of her third birthday. Though when she was born, it was inevitable to happen, its never easy when it actually occurs. The little lady may not have walked, or really talked - but with her big brown eyes looking up at you, she brought more joy to life then one would imagine. God Bless the Bell family, she couldn't have been welcomed into a better family.

Without further adue here is my card:

I added the with deepest sympathy inside, since I just thought it was necessary to leave the outside clean. I added alittle glitter to the pink in the Awash flower, and a pink rhinestone. The satin ribbon is pretty in pink and sits on embossed dots vanilla CS.

Ingredients: Awash with flowers
CS: Vanilla, Pretty in pink
Ink: Pretty in pink, grey, garden green
Glitter, rhinestone, Big shot embossing folder (dots), satin ribbon

Sympathy week..

Its been quite a week of sadness.. between death of boss's father in law, the friend's 'dog child' that had to be put down and ongoing "oil spill" among my favorite beaches - its been a downer of a week.

To take me out of the moment - I share with you some cards.

CARD NUMBER 1:

Again, another Sage Shadow with the white lined frame around makes for a clean look and then I added the XLFlower punch smooched with Vanilla. The two leaves are cut from the Big Shot Island Die after the CS was put textured using the Textured Plate #4. Then it got 'smooched' too!

CARD NUMBER 2:

I recently received the Elegant Bouquet impressions emblossing folder. I didn't know how to use it, but I thought it added a great touch to the card. I am not crazy about the sheer white ribbon, but like the small flower (Island Floral Die) that adds some dimension to the card.

I PROMISE-PROMISE-PROMISE to be uplifting next post! After all, I got some new goodies to share.. we all love new rubber!!!!

Card 1: Sage Shadow CS, Rose Red, Old Olive, White Gel Pen, Big shot Island Floral Die (Summer Mini), XL Flower punch, Vanilla Smooch Spritz, rhinestone brad

Card 2: Rose Red, Whisper White, Rose Red, Garden Green CS, Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder. Island Floral Big Shot Die, petals from two step bird, rhinestone brad

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Sage and Grey kind of day.

Its like being in one of those moods where its just BLAH. .you know the type..Well I have one of those days.. therefore I am passing this on to you.. in a good way.. I promise!

I have a ton of sage shadow paper that I really was hoarding for my boss's cards, since she loves this color so much, she painted her bathroom for the guests this shade. But really with the new renovation of the colors, I wanted to use some of it now... which now taht I have used about 4 sheets she will decide she wants invitations for something made with it. (That is the type of day it is!)

Anyways, it doesn't have a sentiment..its clean and simple.. its going to be a sympathy card after the news that I got yesterday, but still looking for the "right words".

I scored outside the white border, twice, which doesn't reflect on the photo, but I like it. The stamp set (Hostess - Of the Earth) I haven't used and really am not sure why I brought the two stamps out now, must be my farewell gift.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Peonies

With the strange weather we have had in April and now again in May, I am happy to report that my Peonies aren't far from opening up! I do have one that is open now, which totally inspired the card, which is headed to a family in which recently lost their father.

I used the XL Flower punch, new style, and tissue paper. The issue paper flower is secured with a brad, then was crumbled up. I attached it with pop up glue dots on the rear, after using the 2 step bird "branch". I love the turn out. What you cannot see is I dusted the peony with some glitter, for more effect. I used the Sketch challenge on StampinUpConnection.

I love the outcome! Thanks for looking! Come back again!

With Heartfelt Sympathy

It is with a sad heart even 16 years later, I still think about this day. I take a moment, no matter where I am in my life to remember that a great amazing friend of mine was taken from this world on this day due to a woman who was arrogant enough to drive while obviously intoxicated. While part of me wonders how you live with yourself after such a thing, part of me just forgets about her and focuses on my friend, Brian. Brian was more than just the average teen, that loved to tinker under the hood of the car. He had a way of being the sunshine to your life.

My most fond Brian moment? The day it was raining and we went mud bogging in his buddy's Jeep. I hadnever laughed so hard in my life - jumping around in the jeep, as we are driving up and back these mountain paths that clearly were for 4 wheelers only. When we got stuck.. well you got out and pushed the Jeep out.. covered in mud, laughing your butt off you got back in and did it again. Until it was time to go home for dinner, and you had to wash the Jeep since it wouldn't be allowed in the driveway in that condition. Those were the days.

He made me laugh. He was the brother I never had, the one that my parents took under their wing and treated like their own. He made you think about the future. Brian had this sparkle about him that made you want to be his friend. He was Brian, too young to leave us, but forever in our hearts.

So as I wipe my tears, I bring you todays card. With heartfelt sympathy, in memory of my dearest friend Brian, who was such sunshine to my life, was the mechanic who could be paid in tea and food and who is missed by many...

I used the 5 petal punch to make the flowers and one set of leaves. I used the leaf from the Two Step Bird punch for the other leaves and scored the cardstock every inch. Simple elegance.

Ingredients:
CS:Eggplant, Old Olive, Sage, Whisper white
Stamps: With Heartfelt Sympathy - MSE
Bone, two step bird punch, 5 petal punch, butterfly punch, pearls
