What exactl - tea have I been up to??

I have to confess, I love making things - for those I know and don't. I am a sucker when it comes to putting a smile on someones face from miles away without them even knowing who I am.

As many of you know, my fiancee is a soldier and is currently deployed. Why not make some little gifts for his solider? H-e-l-l-o, its what I love to do. So here is a sample of what I have been up to. I will of course finalize and take pictures for you to see, before shipment... but in the meantime..

Its a Tea packet. It holds a tea bag on one side and ties shut, and I have a poem that is attached to the front. Actually, Ruth Buckley from a Yahoo group I belong to sent it to me as a document so I could print and punch it out ... no brainer.. but HUGE HELP!!! THANK YOU AGAIN RUTH! .. when you are making 40 of them, every little bit of help is appreciated.

The poem I am using reads:

On Christmas Day
at half past three
brew yourself a cup of tea
I’ll think of you,
You think of me
Sitting beside the
Christmas
Tree

The 40 will allow his soldiers to send one home (its small enough to fit in card enveloped and ship home) - and they can keep one with them... though I realize 'half past thre' is in different time zones, but its the thought that counts... right?..

Stay tuned, I will update with the tea packets before I ship next week!

Sad to say good bye

It was a sad day last week, when I received the news that a dear friend of mine's dog passed away. After hours and days of trying to comfort her - she passed quietly. The loss of a pet, no matter what it is, still is the same. Be it the goldfish that you won at the carnival or the dog that you had as small child. All is the same.

I didn't have any 'going over the rainbow' quotes that the Best Friends Foundation uses, but I did have this one.

I put this together like a shadow box, with the saying in the inside, and then wrote on the back.

The quote reads: "Fluffy beds and endless treats. Gates to Guard and Friends to meet. Long slow walks and petting hands. Safe with God in Dog heaven."

Erin kiddo- Our thoughts are with you. May the other two furry friends let Patches shine thru!

Red Delicious

I have fallen so deeply in love with Kraft paper, I have to hid it not to use it all the time! That isn't a BAD thing, its just that I do not want people to 'get bored'. I love the clean look of it with the colors.. .again, there isn't anything bad about it... but still.

I have designer paper that just sits in the bin and I really do not do much with it.. lately I just want to add a 'taste' of it. Not too much, but enough of BAM!! that is blends well. So again, I am using this same pattern as the purple cards, but with other colors...

It really is Kraft paper.. I promise..

Wasn't sure which I liked better... to stem or not too stem... so I made a few of each!

Thank you for looking! Have a great day!

Purple rain

Last night, we had some very severe storms in the area. I was a lucky one who got to start my drive home in some of it, then due to passing into another county, it lightened up alittle more, but when I got home, luckily, it just opened up and poured! It was so fast and heavy, the plants all got beat down, and I heard my squash plants screaming for it to stop. Hours later, it lightened up - no more thunder and lightning - then at midnight or so it must have stopped.

I got to hid out in my craft area, not only because I find the rain soothing but the quality of TV these days is frightening! I did manage a few hours in my latest book as well. I made 14 cards last night. I finished a swap I am to mail out today, and I gathered ideas for a shoebox swap on Tuesday night. Overall was a successful night. OH AND I did some cleaning up in the studio of the stamps and mainly paper laying around.

I haven't used purple in a lifetime, so I thought it was a place to start. I want simple. Since again some of these are going to the troops. Simplicity at its best.

Center of the card I just stamped a flower from Petal Pizazz that has the same shape as the small felt flower shown here.
