Brighten your day...

I really wanted to do something different for the ladies that I give "brighten your day" cards to at a local woman's shelter. These are ladies and children whom are in housed in what is called "safe" homes... depending on the severity of the domestic issues they are dealing with. I can count the number of times I have left after being there with a dry eye on one hand... exactly two fingers ...both times I was too ill to stay and make cards with them, so I dropped off the materials. They have such heart breaking stories - the ladies and their children too.

They make 4 cards.. simple cards. The mothers usually make birthday cards mainly for their children, and thank you cards for the community that helps them out - since technically they do not "mail out" cards.

I give the ladies at the receptionist desks, and the therapists their own Brighten you day cards... blank inside cards, so they can pass along alittle sunshine to those that come thru the door.

I loved being about to throw a tag on the front - so a special message could go in there - and something else on the inside. This works for the therapists as they usually put "encouragement" cards together (which I learned last month). So I incorporated that into the cards this month.

On another note:
I have volunteered to mail out their holiday cards to their relatives for Christmas. This doesn't really seem like a "task" in my world but seems just like a "gift" I can give back.     The cards will be evaluated by the House master, so it doesn't break any rules, and then they will seal them, and give to me, with the postage paid for ... basically I get to act as their postmaster.  I am looking forward to being able to do this for them.

Live Laugh Love

This will be a short since the day is to be a beaut and I want to get started on my garden beds before I head to my FT job, since afterwards, I will be dealing with  the tree guys...lucky gal, I know!

I whipped this together when I got the Ornate stamp... it just seemed to put itself together. Once I finished it, I added the rhinestones, and have since then decided I wanted it to be embossed... so I will be .. next time!

Daffodils... maybe soon

I needed to brighten up my card stash - and a few to send out .. this cold winter weather is taking its toll on me.. I feel like I cannot ever get my toes to thaw out! My hands are so chapped that the lotion that is applied sucks it up like a kid with Kool Aid on a hot summer day... I am sure many of you can understand this.

I love the bright color of the Daffodil, and it makes wish for springtime even more.

My promise for this year was to make the inside just as pretty, and therefore, I am using this as proof that its started!

Ingredients:
Stamps: Silhouette Sentiments; Just Believe
CS: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Gala DSP
Ink: Olive Green, Cherry Cobbler
Pearls, boho flower punch, white gel pen

Have a great day!

Huge the ones you love!

But I digress - here is my simple birthday card for today!

S{ICK} - In Colors

Its hard to believe that its FALL when I look at the calendar but with the temperatures cooling off they way they did... it INDEED IS FALL in my neck of the woods. We (at the office) have the sneezing, sniffles, the cough, itchy eyes...its a Nightquil commercial around here... you know .. everything that indicates a cold or allergies.. but I digress. Most days are spent with sanitizer, tissues and 'bless you's" ...

To represent what life is like at the moment... here is todays card:

I used some of the IN COLORs with the Garden Gala DSP... which secretly I might have to hoard for my own personal use! ... Shhhh - dont tell...

I used the Cherry Cobbler for the cardbase (which I know isn't IN, but its COOL.. so really it is {IN}... get it??) Then I have oh darn, that Early Espresso again.. which isn't an IN COLOR, but still LOVELY!. I textured the Espresso with the BIG SHOT. I have the Pear Pizzaz & Peach Parfait (IN COLORS- YEA!) with the DSP.

I think the illness must be spreading, I have been safe this far - I am leaning to look at the card, with the one eye shut alittle.. maybe I didn't photograph it straight...ok.. well thanks for stopping by - I hope that this finds YOU WELL.. and NOT ICK.. I mean SICK...

Have a great day!
