I cleaned up the desk the other day, and found some butterflies, and instead of putting them in a container for later use, I thought I might just use them, so when I do need a thank you card, one is already completed.  I used the gorgeous grunge for the splatter and sentiment  from another thank you. Added some hemp and it was done!  

 

Now if I could just get started one some Christmas cards !

a Christmas Thank you

We've had some surprise holidays gifts arrive...and some snow well..tis the season! 

So to honor the occasion, I put together some Christmas Thank yous. 

I used the large framelit from Festive Furry and two unique colors! Pool and Razzleberry.

In the center, I use the Jolliest Time of Year sentiment. Seemed fitting.

 

Recently, we woke up to this.... when the weather man said "just a dusting" it actually equalled several inches in the two hours it fell. My commute usually is  under 10 minutes, however noone was prepared and it was an hour due to  chaos on the road. Oh well.

 The thank you cards my son wanted/needed were to be 10 minutes cards... at his request.. nothing frilly but fun... I hope I delivered what he wanted, since I had to make 10 of them. Its been a while since I have been in the craft cave.. felt good- which is handy since I have to get started on holiday cards! 

 

Crumb cake cardstock with burlap and a butterfly punched out with a circle punch - adding the twine and the rhinestone was afterthought, but I like it!

BIG Thank you

Clean and Simple! 

   I "simply" love it! 

   

I used  a 2 inch piece of scrap retired DSP, squared it off, then rounded three edges, and I framed it with Crumb Cake, popping it up with dimensionals. Adding a teeny tiny flower punch to the corner in Summer Starfruit, rhinestone center.  Putting the sentiment on the lower part of the square puts this card together pretty fast, and therefore is a favorite of mine!

Shower Thank yous - Summer Silhouette

My bridal dinner was 2 weeks ago. My MOH did a great job hosting the dinner at a local restaurant. There was 12 of us that enjoyed conversation and 2 people won some great prizes! 

Now its time for me to get out those Thank you cards. Using the colors and "theme" of the wedding, I made a handful of cards - since its been a long time since I have stamped, I wasn't sure where my mojo was going to be at this time. WARNING: Post is picture heavy.

 

Using the Eggplant as the card base and using the Lucky Limeade as a touch of color makes these cards pop! 

 

The simplicity of the white card with some paper piercing is fun too!

I cannot promise that I will post again to after the big day... but you never know... sometimes a girl needs alittle down time!

Simple little trio

 This week has been crazy cold for Central PA.  I never remember temperatures like this... but we will survive!  I have a heater that is in the craft cave but sometimes that doesn't help the draft that just crawls across the shoulders...so I have been bundled up with my Kindle, reading... another enjoyed past time.

This year as accomplishments, I wanted to get some cards together that I could put into gift giving sets. No matter what time of year! So here is the start:

  

Using the Delightful Dozen "Happy Fathers Day" sentiment, this came together quickly. 

 

Party this Way, and some more retired papers made a great birthday card. 

 

A very fun designer paper, completed the set of three with a Thank you!

All three cards use the Paper Players Challenge Sketch, which is going to be kept for later use...when the mojo needs some prompting.

What I liked from Pinterest- Wednesday

I am a Pinterest Addict.

I admit that the day may come where I get rid of every magazine, cookbook and organizing clip in the house because its all right there on a link. I have to set time restrictions for myself. My recent menus are based off items I have seen on there and pinned.

If you have no idea what "pinterest" is, save yourself... run...

I used the Washi Tape to bring the design to the card.  I have had this washi for about 6 months and all of sudden I am like taping all the cards I can to get the in the mail/stash since I need them. OH well.

Two on Tuesday

 Two cards for today!!! I was able to play with some ink, and enter a few challenges! Wahoo!!! 

A few Thank you cards for my stash. Actually I made 4 of these and 2 were sent out already as Thank you's for over the holidays. I "found" this designed 4 x 6 cardstock pad when I was cleaning up and purging  over Christmas. 

 

Using the Paper Craft Crew Sketch, made things even faster!

 Then I wanted to use some of my Washi tape, and so the Retro Sketches couldn't be much easier.

Pretty Pool Glimmer

Now that the holidays are over, I am in need of some Thank you cards. Something that I do not have  in my stash. With a few visits to some challenages, I was able to get cards prepped and ready for the postman!

 

 

I used the fun flowers for the Big Shot, cut them in white, and sponged the ends with Pool Party. I used the dimensionals, and layered them together. The silver  glimmer is a great a great addition to the card, without going over the top.

 

 

 

 

I used the colors from the Create with Connie & Mary challenge, and the sketch from Sweet Stop.

It amazes me that people have lost the abillity to send Thank you cards when appropriate.  I 'get' we are in an electronic world. I also 'get' that this GenY, or whatever it is, has a higher "entitlement" then ever before. Trust me, I am in Human Resources... we see it all the time.. but a  simple THANK YOU, is like rude manners... truly!  Ok, I am off my box.

Imagine my surprise when asked by a college gal, who was seeking thank you cards... they were to be simple and clean.

 I made a box of Thank you cards like this - she is going to send them to businesses that assisted her during her college days.  I used different colors, so she had variety to choose from.  Personally, I liked the Baja Breeze the best! 

I embossed the Elements of Style on Whisper White embossed with Vanilla powder. The Whisper White is layered on Vanilla. I used the 1/4 Grosgrain Whisper White ribbon and Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon. The flower is the smallest from the Daisies #2 Big Shot die.

Paisley Petals

First, I have to apologize for my delay - I have been down with the flu since December 31, and finally can get back into the game of life... without a misery throbbing headache.

So, while I was in the best of attempts of cleaning up my craft cave after the Thanksgiving holiday, I ran across Paisley Petals DSP - which I didn't really touch too much of.  I shifted through the package and was loving the designs, made a note and moved it to the table to touch again on when I was creating.

Tah duh, its time. I didn't know, but was quite excited when I noticed it was Bravo Burgundy in color... really? WHO USES THIS COLOR? ... its one that I think I have had since beginning of time, but barely use. So it was meant that I use it- RIGHT? New Year, new things... right? Of course!

I used the Ovals die from the Big Shot, and layers the two largest.I love the embossing folder Vintage Wallpaper, so of course it was close at hand. On the edges of the River Rock, I used my scallop trim border, which sometimes I have a love hate relationship with!  I used the itty bitty punch for the small flowers, and then the 5 petal punch for the large one. I formed the flower with distressing the cardstock with my bone folder. I used a few rhinestones for the centers too.  The bow from Lucky Limeade was an added bonus, since it was the perfect size.

Well, its a new year, a new angle of design for me.... I thought it might be on the vurge of out of my league, what do you think?

Palms..

I have recently returned from a much needed vacation... in which every room had Palm Tree Decor... by the weeks end, I didn't want to see another palm tree home decor again... or maybe until next time! It was a huge joke among the couples there! 

I found it ever so suitable to make my Thank you card for the other couple that joined us to be using the retired Tropical Island set.

I wanted something worn looking... with the crumbling of the cardstock that was under the embossed cardstock, I ruff up the edges.  While it was my first time  stamping in a while I am very pleased with the outcome!

Daffodils... maybe soon

 I needed to brighten up my card stash - and a few to send out .. this cold winter weather is taking its toll on me.. I feel like I cannot ever get my toes to thaw out! My hands are so chapped that the lotion that is applied sucks it up like a kid with Kool Aid on a hot summer day... I am sure many of you can understand this.

I love the bright color of the Daffodil, and it makes wish for springtime even more.

 

My promise for this year was to make the inside just as pretty, and therefore, I am using this as proof that its started!

Hhhummm...

Hhhmmmm... that is all I manage to do when I look at these cards... its not disappointment.. I do not think they are bad.. but I think its missing something? I made two - slightly different - just in case I could manage NOT to go "Hhhmmm" afterwards.

Simply Thank you

During that last two weeks, I was notified that not only did I have one friend whose father died, but later learned that a 'stampin' friends husband had passed away. With great tears of sorrow, I didn't know what I could do, so I was extremely pleased to make the "thank you" cards for those that sent flowers, food, etc for a friend of mine. I didn't hesitate to get them completed and out the door. I wanted it to remain masculine looking, with soft touches. I sent them to her and she loves them - I do too!

Digging out the Durango

You might think I was talking about the SUV, but actually am talking about one of the In colors from Stampin Up! I haven't used much of this color since I thought it was alittle too 'seasonal' for me. I paired it with Suede (another In Color) and it brought magic to the card.

This shows it alittle brighter than it actually is, but with it being so dreary outside all week, this was the best I had.

I wanted simple and simple I got. I used the Suede ribbon and popped up the oval with dimensionals. I used the thumping technique, which I am not sure why they call it thumping, but I am sure with the question lingering, someone will tell me.

I tried to put a knot in the ribbon,since a bow was too much, and honestly, I cannot say it brought anything more to the card.

On the wild side!!!

Summer of 2008.... Cousin's baby shower.... what to do, what to do???... one idea another, the shower gets postponed... she is taken to the hospital.... days go by... she is going to have this baby weeks before due date.... original shower time has now past, and we wait to hear again, when it would be held.... I know that she is anticipating a boy, and she is registered with the jungle theme... HOORAY.. I can try out the SUP Wild... something stamp set! I know that I will have another mass production so I only do Thank you cards, but in the middle of the thank you card idea, I decide on a door hanger... I wanted to do some stamping on a few bibs or onesies, but I had a time issue at hand... oh well, next time.

I think the little gift basket came out well. I did manage one store bought item, only because I have a few friends who love them, and it was a frame with the side for a foot print or hand print of the child... I like it. I wrapped it in a cake box, with tissue paper, ribbons, and I have to say... when I got my thank you card from her, and saw how delighted she was that she didn't have to go buy them, it tickled me pink.... I mean.. made me happy... {{wink wink}}

There are days when I can't create whether its due to kids activities, or life's unexpected events, but I know we all have them. I made this card a while ago, when I was feeling alittle burnt out.

I like this card, do not own the set, and wish I had it ... some days... this was a quick make and take a few months ago, honestly I didn't remember I did this until I was searching for a baby girl card... which I get the pleasure of making since I do not have a spare on hand.. I cannot imagine that!... nonetheless... with the blues, pomegranate, olive and brown.. what a color combo!
