Its your day!

Its bizarre weather here.. one moment its hot and sunny and the next its storming and the trees are blowing over. Not quite the summer I thought we would have. Least the baseball games are able to be managed through the storms, even if my son isn't playing since hes away. 

Today is 1SGT birthday and though we aren't allowed to talk about it - I have put cards in his suitcase, gymbag and lunchbox. Plus his gift is sitting at the table waiting for him to open.  Hes asked for spaghetti for dinner (I may just make homemade bread for him too)

I put some flip flop cards together to send out for my June birthdays... this isn't 1SGTs card, just incase he peeks :), I will post tomorrow.

How would I know this... because SHE recommended using the Daffodil delight when I completed the Coral card... yeah, I am on to her!!!

 

Thats the best part of making cards... you rarely make cards you wouldn't want to receive yourself. I just get to be lucky enough to receive one! ha ha.

Definitely Daffodil

When I was out shopping for my son's trip, which he leaves Friday for, I couldn't help but think.. 

I can make a daffodil

... Just one...simple and yet ....enough. I was distracted with my  thoughts I am sure that there are items I will need to pick up tonight to make up for my absent minded... but honestly, .... 

They turned out pretty good! 

I then googled to see what others did in comparison, Jackie Topa is the closest to what I did, and she is just fabulous! Great minds!  


I used the Lucky Limeade as my greens and card base, layered Bashful Blue & Whisper White. Pierced along the top in threes, added pearls on the Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon, and stamped Happy Easter just above. 

The inside sentiment reads:

Easter flowers and parades

a bunny hopping by,

jelly beans and chocolate eggs

a basket piled high. 

May you have a happy spring 

and blue skies up above,

may your Easter overflow

with family, friends and love.

HAPPY SPRING!!!!

ITS SPRING TIME!!! OFFICIALLY!!!!

I know its been acting like spring weather wise since the beginning of March, at least here it has.

So when you think Spring, you think....?

Baseball?

Gardening?

BBQ's.

Ahhh yes, and the lovely Daffodils that are springing up everywhere!

I love the simple and clean looks this has. I used the 2 3/4 circle for the front of the card, and then stamped my image on another piece and popped it behind the opening. I colored the Simply Soft with markers. I used the Daffodil DSP to layer over the bottom and added Ribbon. Adding the pearls to the card added some nice but they seem to get lost in the designer paper.

Happy Birthday dear you...

My daughter is taking talent classes, in which she is concentrating on fashion as well. And if you haven't noticed, the NEON colors are making a return..  I cannot seem to wrap myself around it - but in due time I guess I will. So here was a color combination she chose for me to imitiate.

I used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight with White. Clean. Bright. Crisp.


Now I found this sketch from Card Patterns. I wasn't sure I could make it all happen.. but I like it. I think I should have added more yellow, but I added the rhinestone at the top where I could have added another yellow object.

Its CELEBRATION TIME!

In the almost 16 years, I have been a  single mother, today is the ONLY day in which I can claim NOT TO DO MUCH of ANYTHING.. I do not want to cook. clean. make decisions. write checks. shower. work. go to the gym. get out of bed... but many of those items are just necessary for the life in which I have. So I just NOT do the things I can NOT do... does this make sense?  Lets face it, if I do not do some of the items someone may say that is "neglect"... I just say "I will do it tomorrow".. LOL. but I digress.

So you see I can have cake today.. without baking it myself, or going to the bakery and pretending its not for me... not that I have done this {{sheepish grin}}.

 I have asked the teens to be prepared to make their own dinner, since I heard I have dinner reservations... AFTER MY SPINNING class of course, silly me, like I would want to skip that? .. huh.. really, I would!  

I thought these little tealight cakes were adorable! I made the box simply by trial and error. To be honest, more error then trial. I am pleased with the outcome!

Every year, I receive birthday wishes from a dear friend, who has to remember my birthday, since we celebrate it together, but includes this toast, AFTER hes done singing a totally off key version of HAPPY BIRTHDAY...
