2014 Christmas card collection - recycle

Its safe to say that I was a bit behind this year, since by July, I usually have a good idea and draft of  the Christmas cards that will be sent no later than December 10.  By September, not only did I not have an idea in my head on a Christmas card, I was getting pretty low on supplies.

This was the first of the bunch that I made, however only had enough materials for about 10 cards, and these were mainly hand delivered, not many of them were mailed.

I loved the glittery snowflake, but ran outta the pearls, so the 12 I made were going to have to be enough, of this one.

This was my husbands idea... "stockings", since I haven't really done anything with them before. I made 6 before I was finished with the dsp, and wasn't really liking them with some of the other paper I had in my stash.

These were put together on a whim, and though they were fun to make, I quickly learned that my ribbon colors matching some of my paper was limited. I made it thru with 14 cards ... pretty impressive.

After two, I didnt like this.. wasn't sure where to go with it, so it went into my stash... who knows what may come of this next year.

Finally, the ornament cards. These were simple and lovely that i had enough  materials to make about 24 of them.  With just a sampling of DSP in the center, and some  score marks along the edges, it was perfect.

Whether with the burgundy color, or greens I really liked them with the vanilla.

Of course there is one card that I do not have a picture of and its my white on white with cardinals card.. I will have to see if I can get someone who received to send a picture to me... dang nap it! I cannot believe I didn't get one! ... that is what happens in the rush!

Thank you for stopping by! I wish you and your family a happy new year!

Believe

Believe it or not! I am back! I am sorry about my little hiatus! I got really overwhelmed with Craft fair items and didn't attempt to have a normal life blogging/ creating or managing the house. However, I slept on it and needed to see my people, so here I am!

So how about a fun snowflake card, I say as the temperatures were 70ish degrees a few days ago.... seems alittle silly in December. I used some paper that I wasn't sure ever would get used in the dsp pack. Guess there is one in every bunch.  I made this more of a diaroma card, for the full effect of the snowflakes in the air.

Here I used Sahara Sand as my cardstock with the DSP. I use the Apathocary Accents and the snowflakes from Northern frost, hung by dental floss. It folds into a 4 x 5 card... so it can still ship USPS!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to hang out again soon!
Have a great day! Hug the ones you love!

Winter Wonderland

Its 20 mph winds and though they called for some snowflakes yesterday, we were lucky enough not to receive any but have the Nor'easter winds.  Guess you take one over the other.

I used some SU! retired DSP with the Northern Frost- snowflakes in white, on Garden Green. Then I used the Jolliest Time of the year sentiment for the inside.

HOORAY I have more Christmas cards in the making.

I used the sketch from CAS(e) this Sketch, but failed to get it posted in time.  I thank you for stopping by! Have a great day! Hug the ones you love!

Skating Saturday

It might be the 3 of December, and I look pretty good on my Christmas goodies to purchase, but I am way behind on my cards, cookies/baking and decorating. I decorate the tree like I imagined I would. I didn't even look to see if I have enough flour and sugar to start baking. I did however pull all my Christmas stamps out and look at them so I could begin the task.

I fell in love with the idea of ice skates. In my little world, I someday be able to skate without issue, however I know the hard truth .... its not likely to ever happen. Its my handicap! I do admit it!

I used the polkadot and the Northern Flurry embossing folder for the backgrounds. I sprayed some Vanilla Smooch Spritz on the Northern  Flurry and skates.

I punched the skate blades out with half the Word Window punch, I used part of the Snowflake punch for the connectors on the blade. The Stocking punch in Crumb cake for the bottom of the skate and then the skate itself. I pierced the area where you tie up the laces.

Vintage... Take 2...

When I made this card I wanted to use all the stamps in the set, however, I got distracted when I grabbed my glitter on the snowman, and instead of it looking blue- ish for the snowflakes, it all looked GREEN... so I didn't complete it - instead, I used the holly from the Bells & Boughs set.. I cannot say its a complete set, but hey, throwing this in the mix of them is pretty neat.

Vintage Take 2:

I smooched alittle vanilla on the card (not sure if you can see it or not). I will finished the snowman. I promise!

Ingredients:

Stamps: Bright Christmas, Bells & Boughs

CS: Very Vanilla, Deck the Halls, DSP, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler

Ink: Artichoke, colored pencils

Northern Frost (Big Shot Die) Glitter, dimensional

Candy Cane ... Redo..

I love a few non traditional colors when it comes to christmas cards... so when I did this card I knew I had to make a few more. I flipped the paper over and crimped the cardstock, before attaching the snowflake, adding alittle glitter and it was complete -- easy peasy.. simple too!

Here she is:

OK, the sentiment is alittle blurry- it was taken with my cell phone since that teenager of mine went running off with my camera with friends -- Christmas cannot get here fast enough {{wink wink}}.

Ingredients:
Stamps: Bright Christmas
Ink: Black
CS: Real Red, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Candy cane DSP
Crimper, Northern Frost (Big Shot - snowflake Die), Glitter, dimensional

Cold & Crisp

That is the weather these days... when you just want to snuggle under the blankets with the fireplace on and read a good book... but me.. I need to get my cards done.. since the December 8 date came and went - that was my deadline date for getting them done. I didn't want to make and send one at a time - I wanted mass production... and not this head cold that has settled in for the last few days.. URGHHHH!!!! When I do get a few done, I cannot seem to say - "OK thats it! Mass produce away! " Instead I think "ok, now its time for more tea and the sofa".

I think stress is a factor for my lacking immune system. We learned about a week ago (maybe two - since my sense of time is off! ) that my Uncle has liver cancer and its actually spreading throughout the body and they haven't removed any of the tumors. He's been going to "healing services" and believes that the healing prayers will make him better. Now, I have conflicting emotions about this. One positive thing is that he's out lived the timeline he was given in April.. APRIL!! He TELLS US IN NOVEMBER AND HES KNOWN ABOUT THIS SINCE APRIL!!!!???? WHAT !!!!???? Since our family is fairly close, I was thinking.. how did we not know?... and then I recall hes been using some excuses of late.. 'Other plans, someone in the family is sick, no transportation, and last, he avoids getting back to us... so putting that all together. I GET IT NOW!.. but it all makes sense.

So I got some serious prayer requests going out for him - and the family - as we head into the holiday season.. God Bless you Uncle Steve!!!!

To honor my Uncle - I used his love of CANDY CANES for this card...

Thanks for listening to me babble on.. if you are still here.. anyone????
Make sure you hug the ones you love today!!!!

A Little Vintage ...

I do not really know if I have a style that I can convert to being "Vintage".. but this is as close as it might get. I have some designer paper that I wanted to use for some Christmas cards and finally am taking advantage of it..

What do you think of my Vintage ??

I used the Deck the hall DSP, put Santa on Cherry Cobbler paper and the sentiment on Soft Suede. I used some glitter on the snowflake from Northern Frost. Its on Crumb Cake cardbase.
And no your eyes are decieving you- the DSP is cut on a slight angle.. the slighted but it makes my eyes go all spastic!
Have a great day!

Contempo Christmas

This is the first time this stamp set has seen INK... can you believe it??? I wanted this set in the worst way... and then I never even used them - UNTIL my friend Kim used this set here- and it gave me some ideas... So thank you Kim! Anything to keep my mojo flowing!
Chera's Contempo Christmas:

I loved the Cherry Cobbler snowflake (from Northern Frost) added to the ribbon, then had to add some Crystal Effects to it - but I think its still wet in the picture! The Old Olive is embossed with the Lattice embossing folder (Big Shot). The layout I saw on some challenge... and I liked it but wasn't sure where I would use it.

So what set did you HAVE TO HAVE and then not INK for a LONG TIME? I want to know ??!!?!

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a good day!

White or Grey, either way, its snowflakes

We had snow flurries during our little Thanksgiving break .. didn't amount to anything more then squinting really hard while looking out the window... But I AM NOT COMPLAINING!!!!.. It will come soon enough.

Simple and quick.. that was my goal.... and I hope that when these cards travel with their food packages, they are received and enjoyed just as well.

Here is my white cardbase version:

and my grey cardbase version:
Which do you like bettter???
Lovely son of mine says "Do you think someone will pay attention to the card rather then the food its with, Mom?" .. I guess not.. but I want to think so!
...teenagers!!!!UGH!

Have a great day!!!!

Paisley Trees

Today's share is the last swap I did. I love it!! It was fun and I got to use these trees that I cut out for another project, I never completed!! We all have projects like that -- I know you do!

I used the Big Shot alot for this project! Northern Flurry on Jolly Holiday DSP. I used the Northen Frost in Vanilla CS - and attached to the bow- which provided me the most frustrating part of the card. I added brads and popped up the trees with dimensionals. All that is missing is alittle glitter!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
