Party hearty!!!

Wow, sorry for the neglect... it was a crazy end of week, last week. We unexpectedly left to help a fellow soldier out with some home repairs in North Carolina. Since upon his return from yet another OIF tour, he is left with a few medical conditions that are serious.  So we played road warrior and jumped in to help where needed.

The family was delighted with the outcome of new railing on their back deck & ramp, then adding the accent lights.. it was like Ty Pennington made a visit.

We learned a birthday was to be had for one of the family members, while were there so after getting my overnight bag packed, I put together a quick card to give to him.   I mean, real quick like the ink took longer to dry because it was that quick!

I used Everthing Nice with the retired Tropical Oasis DSP paper. I used the small oval punch for the balloons (colors in the DSP) and a silver pen to make the strings. I popped out the balloons and the EAT CAKE sentiment in another color.

Thank you for stopping by!

Hug the ones you love!

Thank a soldier when you can!

Kissing Oasis Good Bye

With thoughts of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Earl upon us... just kidding - I mean, I know hes northern bound but that isn't what prompted the card!

The tropical weather is leaving us shortly, but the Tropical Oasis DSP left us on August 31. I still really love this paper. It was alot of fun, and didn't wear out its welcome! I used the Tropical party Stamp set as well (another item that is also now retired)... so I had alittle pity party... NOT TOO WORRY - Its celebration time with the new Holiday Mini that started September 1 and last until Janaury 3, 2011. SU! has really outdone themselves with all the really cute holiday stamps packed in that catalog. If you are interested in receiving a catalog - let me know! I will hook you up!

Have a great day!

Happiness Always... twice

I have a touch of OCD... where I cannot even leave my craft cave without making two cards and cleaning up the desk .. not a bad thing RIGHT? Well, sometimes it has its moments ... and when the mojo is down.. I get so mad at myself that I cannot enjoy my creations. However, I CASED this layout from another card one I made a while ago. It was hanging on my Card tree on the shelf and just begged to be redone. So I did... twice

Here is card Number 1:

Then I spruced it up alittle after I was done and walked away... Just adding an element made me like it more.

Card Number 2:

Ingredients:
Tropical Oasis, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, So Saffron CS;
Whimsical Words Stamps;
Felt flower, oval punch, eyelet punch, so saffron ribbon, silver brads,
Small dots BG Textured plate

Thank you and have a great weekend!!

.. Party's Over!...

WHEWW!!!! What a weekend! The party was a hit! I can say the sudden change in plans didn't put a damper on things at all. I was a fool thinking that parties would get a little easier as they got older! Or maybe I am just alittle OCD about items...

My daughter and I spent HER actual birthday- June 11 - at the salon getting pedicures.. my first, her first...we had a blast! Though I believe I have created a monster.. she couldn't walk straight for the next two hours since she had to be looking at her toes the entire time! It was hilarious, but lucky that wore off by the time her girls came over the the sleep over! We spent the rest of the day preparing for her weekend worth of parties (friends, then family). Not too bad of a day... but wished we would have gone to the shore, as we have done in the past... bummer!

Here is her card:

I cheated alittle with her card. I had made some invites, and this was one, that I actually manipulated into her birthday card. I love the turn out! It is alittle front card heavy!

These were part of the "favors" for the party. The other items they got were- hula hoops, glow sticks, punch balls, lip gloss & silly straws. Most of the items they used for games or whatever and then were to keep them..

I have to put together Thank you cards, but I am on my own for those. She gave me the ok to do them on my own and then she will send out. HOORAY!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Taking a vacation...

While I am in the middle of preparing for this 13th birthday party bash for my daughter, I still needed something fun for me..a little fun card that was a great distraction from party goods!
This is what I will need after this weekend is over, and I am as spent as I feel in the preparation stage. We will have a good time!

Thank you Ellen Kemper for your ever so clever punching creations. This one takes the ... bar! LOL! I dont have alot of punches but made it happen with those I have. I love her little beach tote at her feet. I love the bar as well! I can't help but want to make more of these! They just are too cute.

This was inspired by my friend, Erin, who I went to visit in SC in May. (yes, she has red hair and brown suit and beverage in her hand, most of the time- HA HA) We headed to the beach for a day, watched as the ocean waves crashed at our feet and made us move our chairs every 30 minutes or so! We should have taken stools at the local bar! We could still watch the kids from our seats.. honest! lol.

Ingredients:

Punches- butterlfy, circle, oval, tab, window, modern label, boho blossom; Stamps: Tropical Oasis; micro beads (inside flower on hat & bag)

Thanks for stopping by!

Tropical Oasis

Its time!! Its finally here!!! Its time for me to believe I am on a tropical island.... Sipping cocktails ..... being cooled by a palm leave fan... I can smell the coconuts, hear the waves crashing on the shore... YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

Its time for my daughter's 13th birthday party... no relaxation there!!! Its been 3 months in the preparing stages. Its been nonstop for the last three weeks. I have one week to go. I couldn't even get her to relax one simple minute.. But the invites are complete. The favors are still in the making or actually (if you have a teen you will understand this..) still up for the debate! I laugh, because I see myself in this child more and more every day!!

Four invites later... she finally decided on this one..

with the palms in the middle.. and she was too excited to leave ONE blank for me to get picture at the time! URGH!!! {{sigh, this will get better}}

Next it was favor discussion:

It started out with that face she makes when she doesn't like anything... then it went to a deciding face... then she said "Not now, I am not sure.".. and then a week later we were back at it. She isn't totally convinced this is what she wants. Things might get ugly.. especially if the list grows to the point where I need more paper!

I used the Matchbox die, and I love these little boxes.

All items are made with the new Tropical Oasis DSP in the Summer mini catalog. I love the prints and am finding I have been reaching for it with all that I create lately. Next I want to book my little tropical vacation!

Thanks for stopping by!
