Happy Fall Y'all

We are approaching the fall festival season, which means for me MORE time around the campfire.. who doesn't love that?  I am a big fan. I love the smell of  campfires. I love the gathering of people and the commradery that occurs. Lucky for me, we have a lot of them here, so I do not have far to travel.

 

 

 

A favorite campfire treat that everyone enjoys is S'mores. Who doesn't love alittle gooey chocolate and sugary treat? I will admit, I am not into the marshmallows  unless they are roasted. However most of the time I 'd rather a roasted Fig Newton. {{OH yeah}}

 

 

I put these little goodies bags together for the kids - BIG AND SMALL, and everyone loves it. Plus, what doens't get ate, can be saved for another time. Than I do not have stale marshamallows and mushy graham crackers from being open for a while...

 

 

sadly that is how the brain works in this house..

 

More importantly during  the fall fests, we do drink some wine with friends. Nothing like getting your class mixed up with the others at a party and slugging down some dry nasty wine...

 

 

So a few years ago, I decided that glass tags were going with me, when we left for such events. They are easy to make.

 

 

 

I use a ponytail holder (hair band) and attach my fun name tag to them. I can use it on beer bottles as well.

 

Its the small things that make a festival successful and fun.

I need time to play...

 I needed craft time- we all have these moments... I have been busted some major &$$ at the office and I needed some tmie for ME...  I first headed to the Playdate Cafe because these girls keep my mojo thinking! And I put together this...

 Bring on the Cake was to be the focus of the card, but I wanted something to POP out at you and putting a cake on  wasn't doing it for me. Then I thought.. why not paper candles... I have seen these done different ways - but I just wanted simple little tubes to represent my candles and QTip tops. This was a great look - but it just wasn't enough for me...

Part me really needs to get a hold on some halloween treats! Goody bags for my girls weekend, and I haven't made a 3D item in a while.. then I thought ruffles.... pin tuckles... and with the colors I was using it just wasn't happening... then I remembered these flowers! .. well we call them stick flowers ... who knows what they are called???

So then it was just finishing touches... like black leaves? I liked the look as creepy as what it may sound. I had no idea about sentiment.. so I went simple... My Friend gave the little touch I wanted. and then it was complete.   It felt good to get in the craft cave and get some inky fingers. Of course, I did have a glass of wine- so that maybe helped alittle too!

How do you decompress from a long week at work?

Here's my top three {in no particular order}:

1. Head massage by the 1SGT {nothing like a good old rubbing!}

2. Bake - from cookies to breads, to just a recipe that I haven't ever used

3. Get inky! {you know there is nothing like the satisfaction of completing a challenge or two}

Corsage

I LOVE GERBER DAISIES...

  I love DAISIES.... PERIOD! ...

what I like even more is that fact that I can make them and have them in my home and not have to worry about bugs, water and welted petals! Since I made these for work, I just kept going!

Then I thought  - why not a corsage?  And honestly I really LOVE IT!

Whatcha expect... a pot of gold?

Well YEAH! That is what I am looking for! 

OK, so here is your pot of gold.. Ferrara Rocha's... that is as close to gold as you are going to get with me! LOL

Simple little basket holds three FR chocolates.   OK, maybe the third is stuffed in there... but it still matters!

This is as simple as the basket gets. The "gray" in the instructions below is your "band", the 3 blue strips are your 'basket belly' - and this was my short version of how to make it. I do believe you can search on Splicoaststampers  for this as well, incase my diagram isn't doing it for you! You do overlap the strips, and that forms the basket. I hope this helps!

The Flapper

Its ironic that I would choose the FLAPPER  to showcase today. For a variety of reasons in which you will hear in a moment, this makes me laugh, since I could really cry about it... but if you cannot laugh about your troubles at some point they will  just eat you alive... right?

The flapper is a box from the creation of Lauren Meader, you will have to google her, I cannot link you to her My Time, My Creations <-- thats a hint for you -- site since she designers stamps that would compete with SU!  OK?  Thanks.

Yes, I purchased the box, and I have been waiting to put this together... and when I did - it was bigger than I thought, but I still like it. And then it sat for a long time, unembellished... until now. I kept it simple and enjoyed using the colors from Color Q to embellish the 'flapper'.

My "flapper" story - yesterday in Central PA, we had over 2 inches of rain fall.. and wind that  could take small children and dogs to nearby states.. if you get my drift. With this incredible rain (that I will state wasn't in the forecast) there was flooding.. ALL OVER THE PLACE. Now, I live at the base of a mountain, which normally means I get the run off of water, and I live in a house that was built in 1946 and probly has the septic of that era as well.... do you people know where I am going with this??? I spent my morning crumping about the rain, and the saturated yard (aka septid field), had to load the teens in the car twice for 'trips to Walmart'... if you can imagine  this... I claimed after supper - which the rain now turned to sleet and then we were to get some snow - that you will "pretend that we are camping"... after the words left my mouth, the power started to flicker... mainly due to the wind and then the sleet on top of it... it was all icing on the cake.  The boys laughed as I got the flashlights out, and some battery operated tealights, just incase we needed them.  The drains were slow all around the house. The toilet wouldn't flush. I was concerned for the power.  Needlessto say, we had quite a night!  I didn't sleep well, since all i kept worrying about was using the bathroom in the morning before work. Then the power would flicker... so it was a sleepless night. Woke up to almost 5 inches of snow/slushy on the ground, with the wind still in high gear. Though the teens and I got it shoveled, the wind made any 'enjoyment of the snow' painful!    So here's to a flapper that is now working!!!! ...

Day 6 ...Well OWL be, your another year older???

I cannot tell you how much fun this was to put together. The bright colors....the cheery looking owls.. it was definately a highlight... shouldn't everything be that way?  I wanted bright and fun.. I think I succeeded!  I really love the textures, the prints and the colors!  Afterall, if you are turning another year older, might as well have fun with it... right?

I was lucky enough to have most of these things already punched out and squirreled away .. so you can say I made this from "scraps".. I have had something of the like in my head for a while.. this is what happens when you are unable to bake for a while. ... your creative mojo moves into other directions.

The little treat box, I saw HERE... and I knew at some  point in time I would want to make it.  What I failed to so was actually print this on my cardstock, so I had to replicate it as a true stencil template and make the best of it...sometimes I am so difficult.. urgh!!!

Isn't it just adorable together? I have to find a nifty little note for the inside- since I have numerous birthdays this first week of March, this has certainly helped get the juices moving... since no two can be alike... on the offhand chance they may compare .. Right?

One month from today.. its Valentines Day

Lets get a little romantic for a moment...  after all the office LOVE day is one MONTH away!

Lets turn the over head lights off. ..

What? You cannot turn the lights off.. oh go ahead, get your candles, and your matches, and be so nervous that you don't burn yourself, you cannot even enjoy the moment.... go ahead, I will wait.... are you ready?

My other half isn't much of a candle guy. Its not the smell - its the fact that he had a buddy whose house burnt down and trapped his wife and he in it - so therefore, if its not battery operated, I doubt it will be inside my home...

Winter Rose Pin

This pin was a part of my mom's Birthday gift. I just had the chance to see her on Saturday - therefore, that is why it wasn't posted sooner -- not that I even think she visits here, but you never know when the mood may strike. I took other pictures, however, the camera went missing - and I think it was found in a certain 13 yo's room - but I didn't go chase it down- so once I do, you will get the card that I made to be with this.

This was clipped on the bag that had a eReader LED Light on it. She's into that electronic book stuff.. though I love to read, I cannot get past the pages I TURN, and the smell of the paper/ink/binding, etc.. but if it happens for me - I am sure I will quickly forget what it was like to carry a weekend bag around as a purse when I travelled with my books in {{WINK WINK}}.

For now, though please enjoy the pin- it was easy to make. I did a little sewing - as much as sewing a button on.. it was easy and I hope she liked it. The center is actually eggplant, but really looks black. Oh well.

Little notepads

When you need paper to write something down, and its not available, do you get frusterated? Have you so many lists but lose them? I have lists for everything... I am sure there is a med for this behavior, but I do. I now have another car at my disposal - that I need to put a notepad in for my list obsession... for lack of better terms. I wanted it to be small, but useful and HAVE A PEN with it.. (second pet peeve- no pen when I need them) .

I found these cute little pads of paper and dressed them up! I like them so much I think I might put one in my purse... you know? I have used Tea Party paper and some other coordinating colors. Just little pearls for inside the flower punches.

They are a great addition to a birthday gift or just alittle simple 'thank you'. I am keeping these little guys at hand for any moments notice when I need something.. I guess I will put on my own 'list' to make more.. LOL.. what a cycle.

Goody Goody Gum drop

It wasn't hard for me to rip apart an food item wrapper that recently came into my possession, but NOT to eat what was inside, it was to duplicate the wrapper for CANDY!

I used some 'strange color combinations" as my daughter told me when she saw the project. I like it, and ultimately, if she wants what is inside, she will too! HA HA

I really should get busy on Halloween treats but I haven't been in the mood... honestly.

So my sweetie has left the area, and though I have a huge "honey do" list to complete while hes gone, I had to first do something for me... lets call it my stress relief- afterall the kids started back to school, he's deployed, and the weather is crazy around here lately - so I deserve some "me" time! When I get like this, I usually complete a 3D item instead of a card, no idea why, its just the way I am. With the milk carton craze that I have seen lately, I gave thought to them, but it was the container in which houses the milk cartons that I was more interested in. So I sat at my table (that really needs cleaned up) and pushed out this "lookalike".

I love the Rockabilly paper, and the only candles I had matched the green paper inside, so I was pleased, so after the hour, I hit the kitchen floor with mop and got busy on the house hold chores so that this weekend while its raining, I can attempt a few more items.

get to the store and get a memo book that would fit in it. Instead, when I head to the store, I am getting the Mac n Cheese for afterschool snacks or something

This is suppose to have a memo pad in one side, with a pen, and since I spend more time at the grocery store, than craft store or even Walmart lately, I haven't put one in yet. The ones I had at home are too big. I am trying to figure our if you can put your coupons in one side, then as you use them put them on the outside, to make life alittle easier when you are about to check out and need to give them your valid coupons- they are in a separate pocket already... well... maybe.

4 Nugget boxes

So made a bunch of the nugget boxes for the ladies at work. They were alot of fun to make.. simple and just a touch of elegance! My daughter picked the double sided paper and adhered the paper on the nuggets, while I conqueored the task of cutting the box out.

The paper comes from a variety of sources... Martha Stewart, K & ...gosh its a blank..., and Stampin up!

I didn't have directions to follow to make these... I saw them once on some Yahoo group but didn't pay it attention until I had some nugget candies and wasn't sure what to do.

My box bottom is 3 1/4 by 3 7/8 (but that might have been alittle smaller) and I scored the bottomat about 5/8 - all sides. The transparency was cut 2 3/4 by 6, and red sicky tape it together. Tie with ribbon. Presto its complete.

Whats in Santa's pants??

I made these last year, and can you believe I can only find ONE photo of them? Oh my gosh, and what a bad photo it is... so I apologize for it... but I had to share.. since I love to make them. I wish I had the photo of the pair I made with fuzzy white (similar to the stuff hes got on his suit- for real! LOL)... it totally made the item!

Last year I think I made about two dozen of them. Filled with anything from eggnog, candies, gift cards to slipper socks.

Over the year I have made girls jeans, fishing waders, and a pair of motorcycle harley leather pants.
